A Happy Ending

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘today’, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13

When we first met w/ M, we could see that her life’s situation was weighing heavily on her. She was discouraged, her eyes downcast. Her life holds many challenges. She left another state to move here, far away from her abuser. A recent encounter had many negative effects, physical, emotional, spiritual. It was so horrific that her daughter, who witnessed it, had to be hospitalized, suffering a breakdown and suicide attempt.  Additionally, M is a mama to a precious and very active 3 year old son with autism. No car, no support system, no furniture, no washer/dryer-no wonder she was discouraged.

We asked about her relationship with the Lord and if she had a Bible. She admitted that she feels distant from God and that when she tries to read her Bible, it is very confusing. When we discovered that she was reading a King James version, we decided that the first priority would be to put an ESV study Bible in her hands and encourage her to read it daily.

When we showed up for her Blessing Day, we couldn’t believe we were talking to the same woman - she was excited and it showed! What a thrill it was to not only furnish and decorate her empty home, but to provide a washer/dryer!

(Huge thanks to an anonymous donor, who was moved to compassion. He has a child with autism and really wanted to bless them.). Another big “thank you” to Lily’s Toy Box for providing fire truck-loving son with some fun toys and artist daughter with a beautiful art kit. We carefully selected items that would benefit her son (a cocoon chair, a special tactile rug) and hung some fun party lights for her daughter.

M asked to not be included in our group photo, for safety reasons. She also asked that we pray blessings over her home and that’s exactly what we did! We asked the Lord for her home to be a safe space for her family to flourish and that peace would prevail. We’re delighted to report that M and family are visiting churches and looking for a youth group and a special needs program!

Please join us in praying for this sweet family. Life can be so hard. We need each other!
